Surely, Ser Sunspear must have heard about the riots of Highgarden, no? Oldtown was all abuzz about it over the tribunals. If Lords are almost lynched by an angry mob, surely a humble alehouse might be put to the torch by another?
Compelling is +2 to the test, +1 to influence (which is cunning for bargain, thus 4). Trystane then gets 15 on his test, which is 2 DoS, for 2*4-4=4 ID: 10 DR: 3 Composure: 5/9 Objective (Convince): Make Trystane believe that Errol knows nothing that can help this search. Convince (Bluff): 6d6k4 18 is 2 DoS for 2*3-4=2

"Funny you should mention Highgarden. The Septon mentioned he was there during the Black Tourney. Wasn't it a Septon that caused those riots? Must have made enemies with that..." Trystane lets his implication go unspoken, but clear in his tone. Specifically you, or whomever it is you're working for.
Thanks for showing your working. I think I understand the process better now. ID: 12 (-3 against Deception) Composure: 12/14 (is that correct as of this post?) DR: 4 Objective: (Bargain) Tell Trystane what he knows about the attempt on Septon Abelar's life. Rumble - Bargain with Errol 2 (Compelling) +Benefits: 3d6k3+5 203Dos = 3*4-3=9 (if I've calculated correctly)

A septon indeed, banished from Highgarden by Lord Tyrell, Errol wonders if said septon is so passionate that he would risk the same treatment by the Hightowers, being barred from Oldtown and thus no longer having access to The Starry Sept. As Errol understands, the library that The Faith keeps in their district might be a deeper sting. But perhaps if Ser Sunspear has a golden dragon or three that happens to weight down his purse, Errol might be so gladden to relieve him of such a burden as to mayhaps remember something about vile plots on the life of one Septon.
Calculated correctly, but you rolled 3D instead of 4D Missing die: 1d6 323 is still 3*4-3=9 No point carrying on though, he's trounced.

"Fascinating. That does sound like a tale worth hearing. A dragon for your story, and a second as a token of my esteem, since you've been such a good conversationalist."
He takes out three gold dragons, but only passes over two at first.
"A third depends on the quality of the story when the telling is finished."

"I am afraid I have a hard time remembering faces." Errol have clearly practiced that line, finding it amusing. "And if someone does not give me their names, I do not ask, names are for friends, and a friend would not be selling you out, hmm?." Using a blind man that isn't even told your name is an interesting take on discrete services. "Still, I hear things, I believe you are seeking a lady of The Reach, I know not what they do at Highgarden, but all the little ladies end up speaking exactly the same. This one had the tone of a bitter shrill, light in the step. Not notably tall, I think, but you can rule out the fat ones, or those wide of hip and shoulder, like a slender young one, barely a woman grown as you like to call it, but her voice was older, you would expect a mother I think, few noble ladies won't have been bartered away for alliances long before reaching such an age where their voices take on that tune, but a grandmother, I think not."
I'm thinking that coming up with ladies fitting the description would be a Cunning (Memory) TN 12 (15 for Trystane due to less exposure to various Ladies of The Reach), more DoS would help narrow the list down. Trystane, Roland and Abelar may roll separately, or forego rolling for assistance.

Roland did his best to tease out more details when the matter was brought to his attention later, seeing if his courtly experience could be of some use.
[OOC: assist offered. +1.]

"I'm surprised you weren't listening in when I gave my name yesterday, since it is clear that few things escape your ears. If you'd wanted it, you had but to ask, but you seemed content to use Ser Sunspear. I'll tell you it if you wish it, friend, though I doubt it will precede me."

Errol also has one more tidbit to share, the lady passed by the day after the tribunal announced it's verdict. So it was clearly not a response to Abelar's later activities.
Lady Rhonda Hightower would match the description, if having no apparent reason to put a price on Abelar's head. Lady Helicent Cockshaw would fit the description very well, Lady Maegelle Cordwayner is possible, but she would likely not be considered if her name was not on the forefront of the investigator's mind to begin with. Lady Kyra Orme should also be a good match to those words. Others that might be considered includes Lady Marianne Merryweather and Lady Delena Levalle. Of these, Lady Kyra was sighted during the tribunal, and while Lady Rhonda was not, it is easily enough confirmed that she hasn't left Oldtown since returning from the tourney.
Lady Helicent's alibi (and disappearance) wouldn't yet be known to anyone in Oldtown.
Can proceed with Knowledge (Streetwise) TN 9, each DoS will eliminate one candidate from being present (DoS beyond this is likely to reveal more clues).

Those who can be ruled outright would be Lady Helicent Cockshaw and Lady Delena Levalle, leaving Ladies Maegelle, Rhonda and Kyra as potential suspects, though other ladies of lesser station could also have placed such order, there is no lack of handmaids passing through Oldtown even in quiet times.

"Do any of those have a reason to want you dead?" Trystane asks the septon, as they go over the matter.
