"We all grieve the loss of Ashara. I know ill words were spoken of her by Lady Maegelle at Highgarden. Every dance at court will be poorer for a full generation. She would have illuminated any household, though I fear my sister by marriage would have sought to make it a most unhappy one."
"Would that we always had the Iron Crane on hand to guard her. It is too late for me to extend the protection to her that she asked me to deliver her brother during Highgarden's melee. It was a most sorrowful honour to fight in Ashara's name at Summerhall and silence dogs who would disgrace an Andal trial. The Seven clearly saw fit to punish Ser Dickon Tarly and set an example to others. I would not dignify Ser Simon Tarly's wild challenge over the matter here - the duel was conducted in the sight of gods and men. He disgraced his family name in thinking to issue a challenge over the matter, and Redtusk reinforced the point at the top of a lance."
Roland was blissfully unaware of Laena's part in Dickon's fate.
"I can only offer whatever aid I can in the cold comfort of just retribution. The match was my brother's doing, I believe. Should I find that Maegelle sought to end a match made outwith her control in the vilest way possible then I shall not rest in seeing her shamed and punished." Roland briefly denies Maegelle the courtesy of her title
Roland gripped his sword's hilt with his left hand and flexed his right palm.
"I have met Ser Trystane through your captain Ser Davos Dayne - he seemed a good sort and a promising lance. He proved a level headed sort when we attempted to aid Septon Abelar at Highgarden. If it did not weaken our friends in House Starkwood I would volunteer that he would make an excellent Companion. The more honourable knights of Dornish blood that serve the better the chance for peace, if he can bear the rains further North."
