Trystane scratches his jaw absently as he ponders the question.
"Perhaps get some Mandrake men in their cups deep enough to tell you if they know anything about it?"

"Probably best if we let you try first. I think if we all just happened to show up and be curious about the same things it would triple our chances of revealing ourselves." Mikel was doing his best to shut down any chance of tipping their hand prematurely. Maybe he was being too cautious but this was unfamiliar territory and erring on the side of caution seemed prudent. "If you cannot find anything out by tonight I will speak with somebody I believe can help us." The tournament was ending and he wanted answers for Walter before Lord Mandrake returned home, to his own lands and with the rest of his men. "Each of us is recognizable to some degree. A famous Knight," looking to Roland,"A Dornishman with royal blood", to Trystane, "And I spent a lot of time in Riverland tournament. I may not be as popular among the nobility, but the people certainly enjoy seeing one of their own being successful. None of us has very much experience with what we are now trying to do. Trystane your idea is good because your using something your good at and just altering a small piece of it - some of the conversation. And nobody knows more about what goes on in a Lords house than his servants. Your idea is good, I expect you'll do well with it. Share what you learn as quickly as you may, hm?" Mikel had shared his cautious views but the ideal was a good one. He had confidence that Trystane would produce results if he could find one of Lord Mandrakes serving women.

"Of course. I'll get to work right away. Wish me luck."
He gives them both a respectful nod, and takes his leave.
[Will continue Trystane's part of the investigation in a separate thread]

Trystane returns later that day, purse a little lighter, but with a lead.
"Sers, I have some progress to report. We've a rendez-vous to make. The Mandrake handmaidens say that Madelin is indeed at Castle Deeproot, in the Lord's service. Apparently wants for nothing, so I suspect he is keeping her as a concubine from the sound of that. I had to give out bribes, but they will convince her to meet with her husband in secret, on the next full moon, at the burnt Weirwood. Apparently everyone at Deeproot knows where that is, so we should have no problem finding it and accompanying him there. I think it best we at least go along at a bit of a remove to ensure no outsider stumbles upon it, and that Lord Mandrake does not interfere."

Mikel smiles at the news. "Great work Trystane, truly." He added a moment later. "Did anything strike you as odd about gaining this meeting - had it seemed to difficult or perhaps too easy to arrange?" Mikel supposed he would not want to be thought of as a paranoid man, but he'd rather be thought of then remembered. Once Trystane had given his reply Mikel responded to what he thought of the situation. "I wonder if it might be better to meet without the man present? If she is truly more happy there..." He doesn't finish the thought but instead continues to another. "But it might be good to bring some token from him so that she knows we represent him incase what you have heard is not true and she is being held there against her will. In that same case, and if those you spoke with are less then faithful to our desires, we should consider the possibility that this is a set up for Lord Mandrake to interfere - as you put it - with somebody asking questions. Doubtless a Lord would reward his servants if they brought this sort of news to him."

"They seemed straightforward to me, but I suppose one can never be certain, and what you propose does no harm to the arrangement, so if the fellow agrees to that, then I have no objections. Though, isn't there a possibility she could assume we took the token by force? Is there a way we can prove good faith without a doubt?"

[Just let me know when you're done planning and what you do when moving on. You can linger at Whitewalls for a few days after the tourney is over before needing to ride to Deeproot to get there by the full moon, the fiancee would need to borrow a horse to make it in time, though you could probably find a local guide easily enough if you feel like ditching him, him being a commoner, he doesn't so much have a token as most nobles might, but he can offer words which would let her know that he must have spoken with him about this.]

[Thanks for that. I'm good to go with that if everyone else is, though I'm a little hesitant to assume that Trystane will still be alive and well post-melee.]

"Good point, perhaps he can share something with us about their past so that she will know we represent him. I think it would be better for him not to come along though."
OOC: Mikel's good with the plan of staying at Whitewalls after the tournament before going to the aforementioned meeting place with a guide's assistance. He would insist on arriving early to scout the location, other specifics can be dealt with when the thread is made.

"Very well. He stays away, but gives us something specific to tell her that will let her know we're there to represent him in earnest. The next full moon is a couple of days after the melee, so we have time to prepare. We could scout the place out any time between now and then."
