"He is not one to attempt to stack the odds in his favor, though I wonder if Lord Durwell have a notion towards that end, and where Lord Durwell goes, his grim shadow follows"

Daeron gives a half frown.
"Lord Marq is unpredictable. I expect him to fight with us as much against us depending on his whims of the day, but if you think you can recruit him to our cause, then I invite you to try. I have no expectations that I will be able to persuade him to do anything that he wouldn't already be interested in."

"He likes winning, he likes to decide who gets to win, he likes to make us guess what he's up to, Ser Daemon would have won at Highgarden because of him if not for him being the sprt of man people would follow, but he weren't, I am certain Lord Marq would have placed his bet elsewhere." Bittersteel notes sourly. "I don't think it suits him to commit, maybe he has decided upon a side to back, maybe he is holding out for an improbable opportunity where he might deliver victory and claim the facilitator's prize, maybe he has decided to simply tag along with Lord Leo, regale him with stories and japes the entire campaign and hang back in the rear in every battle. Perhaps he does not care to join a side until he is certain that it has already won, trusting in his ability to realize it early enough not to be seen as unfaithful. But I doubt he is going to tell anyone of what he intends before he acts, he has wits aplenty, but I think he likes his air of mystery too much by half, it might prove to be his undoing as much as it might prove to be the instrument of getting whatever he wants.

"Then it looks like we are back to finding a way to sway Lord Leo over to our cause. If he can be persuaded to support the True King, then surely it will break the impasse and bring House Starling into the fold. So far my attempts and those of Ser Addam have not been enough to persuade Lady Lysette to give up her misguided support of King Daeron, and as the heir of House Starling she is willful and intelligent enough to steer her father and husband away from their instincts.
Do you think you can persuade Ser Daemon to present one of his sons to Lord Tyrell as a match for Lady Amerei?"

"The first problem with that being Lord Durwell, Lady Amerei will refute all offers as long as he seems obtainable, the second being that unless Ser Daemon Blackfyre rebels and wins, there is nothing for House Tyrell to gain from that marriage"

His face sours at that news. He had been more hopeful of their odds of bringing the Tyrells into the fold through favorable marriages, but Bittersteel's strategic intuition was undeniably stronger when it came to predicting political outcomes.
"Well then it seems that those options are mostly exhausted then.
I will do as you say and bolster our collective reputation by showing the Riverlands what it means to be a true knight in service of the Seven. In the meantime, if you find yourself needing my services, you need only ask. The One True King has my absolute loyalty."
/scene if Bittersteel has nothing else?
