Assigned to protect Abelar, both guards join him in the chase. Run Mooks! Run!: 5#2d6 3 11 2 3 7 5#2d6 6 10 8 11 5Chase them down: 5#3d6 5 11 12 11 9 5#3d6 10 10 13 15 13Scores to beat: Mook 1: 3-11-2-3-7 Abelar: 1-0, Guard 1: 1-0, 1-1, 2-1, 3-1, 4-1 Guard 2: 1-0, 1-1, 2-1, 3-1, 4-1 Mook 2: 6-10-8-11-5 Abelar: 1-0, Guard 1: 0-1, 1-1, 2-1, 2-2, 3-2 Guard 2: 1-0, 1-1, 2-1, 3-1, 4-1 Chasers: Guard 1: 5-11-12-11-9 Guard 2: 10-10-13-15-13 So how it works: Roll higher than the mooks, gain 1 advantage, mooks rolls equal or higher than you, mooks gain 1 advantage. Mooks gains 3 advantage, mooks runs away from you. You gain 3 advantage, you may attack instead of rolling athletics (meaning mooks gains 1 advantage automatically), successfully using grab will prevent them from running further away until they break the grab. So will be needing four more rounds worth of running/attacking

Abelar cuts an absurd figure, chasing after the attackers in bare feet, hunched and wheezing, and clutching a bloody axe in one hand. The other he's stowed again, as the red smear on his robes reveals. Finally, he gets close enough to the fleeing man to lay hands on him. The tall septon reaches out and grabs a fistful of wool. "Stop . . . *wheeze* . . . knave . . !" (P 1.75 Maegelle) Chase the Damn Mooks x5: 5#3d6k2-2 9 5 10 7 5 (rolled one too many)Mook 1: 1-0, 2-0, 2-1, 3-1 (caught), 4-1 Mook 2: 1-0, 1-1, 1-2, 1-3 (escaped), 2-3 Putting it all together: Both guards and Abelar are eligible to grab Mook 1 starting in round 4? Guard 2 is eligible to grab Mook 2 in starting in round 4, guard 1 is eligible to grab in round 5, and Mook 2 escapes Abelar in round 4. I'll grab Mook 1 in round 4 (P 1.75 Maegelle) Grab Mook 1 in round 4 of chase: 4d6k3-2 8

Abelar tackles his man to the ground, the guardsman brings him down with a rap by his mace. The other guard doesn't care to try and catch the last assailant, and instead gives him a knock to the back of his skull that sends him tumbling to the ground, limp as a ragdoll. Neither man appears to have a mind to take any of the assailants alive for questioning.
Mook 1: 3-11-2-3-7 Abelar: 1-0, 1-1, 2-1, 3-1, 3-2 Guard 1: 1-0, 1-1, 2-1, 3-1, 4-1 Guard 2: 1-0, 1-1, 2-1, 3-1, 4-1 Mook 2: 6-10-8-11-5 Abelar: 1-0, 1-1, 1-2, 1-3, Guard 1: 0-1, 1-1, 2-1, 2-2, 2-3 Guard 2: 1-0, 1-1, 2-1, 3-1, 3-2 Round 5: Abelar does 1 damage to mook 1 and grabs him. Guard 1 puts him out of his misery: 5d6k4 16Mook 2 gets away from Abelar and Guard 1. Guard 2 clubs him: 5d6k4 11 Both mooks down.

Abelar takes a knee and assesses both men for a pulse. If they're both expired, he rushes back to the others. I need to interrogate the survivor!

You defeated one goon and the brute iirc, thus getting to decide consequences, the rest are dead.

Let's say they're both wounded but stable and available for questioning. Goon was KOed and can be revived, while the brute never lost consciousness but has lost a lot of blood. Nothing that can't be staunched though.

Abelar gets back to see the big man trying to limp away from the scene, clutching his side best as he can and abandoning whatever comrades of his might live to their fate.

Abelar lays hands on the big man and begins to question him. "You there! Who sent you. Do not play me false." There's a slight growl in the septon's voice; partly an affliction of the flesh, in his wounded state. Partly. A dark hunger is alive in the septon's eyes. Never let a crisis go to fallow.

The thug is hesitant, but he is more scared of Abelar than whoever sent him, or perhaps a vain hope of avoiding the gallows. This far south, it is unlikely that he even knows that taking the black might be an option should he ask for it. Eyeless Errol gave them the job, well he doesn't truly know that, but he knows that in the Undercity, Eyeless Errol is king. It may just be a name, though, nobody he knows have ever met him.

Abelar asks just enough follow up questions to get all that he can from the man before what must come next.
Who gave him Eyeless Errol's message? How much did Eyeless Errol pay? Did he mean to kill Abelar, or just rough him up?
After that, Abelar accompanies the surviving attackers to whatever captivity the Oldtown authorities have at their disposal. Once that is accomplished, he immediately moves for the Starry Sept. A septon must not be attacked in the streets. They should begin preaching against this immediately. This will teach them that the Faith needs muscle of its own!

Joff, the bartender at the Boar's Head Tavern passed the job, a gold dragon to each man able to come back and claim it once the deed was done. They were hired to kill him and make it look like a mugging. Handing them over the city watch, the sarjeant notes sourly that they'll dance with the rest on the upcoming Stranger's day, nobody knows from where and when that custom originates, but that day of the week appears the most apt for having executions.
Those attending the Starry Sept appears rather shocked at Abelar's appearance, at first they seem to think that he has stumbled seeking the faith for help, or just to die as close to The Seven as a man could possibly be.

Abelar takes but a moment to compose himself before racing off to his quarters. Once inside, he strips down and buckles on his black leather and steel, tossing his septon's robes overtop. He runs a finger along the edge of his favorite axe before deciding it too large to bring. He races off to the Boar's Head Tavern, Yelshire's guards in tow. Isn't there a tavern called the Boar's Head in Gardenton? It seems everything blossoms in the Reach save the creativity of the drunkard. The septon bursts in, immediately moving to the barkeep. "Hello, I have a job for you." His eyes flash malevolently. "The job is to sing so sweetly that your throat repels nooses."

Abelar glares at the barkeep dangerously. "You're not singing. Come now, you passed a job to some men. From Eyeless Errol. Speak now and avoid the noose."
Hopefully this is the right barkeep.

The man claims that he did no more than to pass on a message that a prayer to The Stranger for Abelar's soul should be spoken. However frightened, he sticks to his euphemisms. Of Eyeles Errol, he knows nothing, they say he is a blind dwarf, others say that he simply wears a blindfold and pretend to be unable to see and is no dwarf at all. All he ever knows is that sometimes a patron orders a drink, gives the message and pays extra, that is how he knows what amount of coin to suggest that those saying the prayer should receive as their just rewards for their piety. He knows not when or where such payments are made, perhaps he is being watched? It would appear that it is a different man coming to deliver the message each time, as if Eyeless Errol, whoever works for him, or whoever hides behind that name, finds some common workman to deliver the purse and the message to cover his own tracks.
